News and Notes 7/20/08

I was supposed to have found more out about the job either Thursday or Friday. And nope no news. Not sure what the problem is, but it bugs.

I was called to two new callings at church. Valiant 12 teacher and 11 year old boy scout leader. I don't have much of a problem with the primary teacher calling, but a bit with the scout leader one. We are supposed to meet on Tuesday nights. I work every Tuesday night. We also could meet Saturdays but I work all day Saturday. So the only way I could do this calling is if I get a new job. I will stay on the bubble with this calling until I find out about this job. If I don't get it, I am going to have to bail on it. But I am assuming I am going to get this job otherwise it was a stupid calling. I did tell them about my time issue, but the bishopric member just sort of blew me off as it being no big deal. So, whatever. I am bugged about it, but much of it is frustration at the situation here generally.

Bridget is doing pretty well. She gets swollen and that sucks for her. She still has to wear the support belt that goes underneath her belly so that she can stave off lower back pain. She also has a new calling--Primary Secretary. It is not her favorite calling. Plus she has been forgetful and so she has given the wrong assignment to a couple of kids and not realized it until a week later. That frustrates her too. Despite her being in Primary my calling today was complete surprise. Actually, I think it was to the Primary presidency too. The bishopric kind of do their own thing sometimes--this was one such time apparently.

As far as the boys go, they are still our little wild boys. They are wild in a good way. They generally play pretty well together. Ryan has T-Ball camp next week. This is the same sort of set up as the soccer camp a couple of weeks ago. It is for an hour and half Monday through Thursday. I am sure he will have a blast. His hand to eye coordination is pretty good so he ought to have a good time and not be too frustrated.

Jack is still going to his kindergym class. He really enjoys it. He runs around and jumps and does summersaults and on and on. Bridget is trying to get both him and Ryan excited about swimming lessons. Ryan is back to swimming lessons after a long layoff. Next month we will start Jack in swimming lessons. He stresses about going in the pool. Bridget has been taking him to the kiddie pool occassionally and things have gotten better.

Ryan got to take part in Grandpa Leroy's Country Club's Lil' Tykes day. Ryan and Grandpa were out on the club's practice course with a bunch of other kids and their parents/grandparents and a couple of the clubs golf pros. Ryan practiced various golf shots and swings and so forth. One of the pros at one point dressed up in a velcro suit and the kids got to try and peg him with some tennis balls that would stick to him if the kids aimed right. I guess Ryan hit him a couple of times which was better than most of the kids did. Bridget said that his swing does not have great form, like he is trying to hit a baseball, but he has great aim once he does hit it.

Well, that is it for now. Perhaps later in the week I will have some better stories.

I really think it is awesome that Ryan and Jack get so many opportunities to have fun experiences and get out and about. I'm sure they'll become very good at the activities and especially interacting with others.

It's nice to know how everyone is doing. Good luck with Primary Bridget. And I guess Devin, too. That's fun you both get to be in there, oh and Ryan, and Jack next year, right?

I can't wait to start Raquel in swimming lessons when we move. We recently went to a couple of baptisms and afterward she started saying that she didn't want to get baptized. I couldn't figure it out. Finally, I realized it had to do with getting put under the water. Spencer's talked to her a lot about it and I think she's getting better, but it'll help when she feels more comfortable in the water.

When is Bridget due?
